At a time when DJs rarely work with vinyl, but rather with CDs, MP3 players and laptops, Ziya Ertekin is a favorable exception. Under the name Blue Flamingo he roams town and country to entertain his audience with the best from his extensive collection of 78 rpm records. 78 rpm therefore covers the period that this sound carrier was commonplace, the thirties to the fifties, and is divided into three chapters. The first, Oriental Nitty Gritty, covers oriental-spiced jazz exotica from the 1930s, The Spanish Tinge & The French Connection is reserved for Spanish and French Caribbean music from the 1930s and 1940s, and the CD closes happily with Ritmo & Blues , rhythm & blues with mambo and rumba influences.
