By the 70s, Bobby Blue Bland had already been around for 20 years. 1973 was something of a mini-comeback for the blues shouter, as he released His California Album. It was a potent blend of blues, soul, and rhythm 'n' blues. Soul music was becoming increasingly polished at this time, but when the good man starts singing, the shine is gone. In 1974, he followed up with Dreamer, which had two veritable hits: "Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City" and "I Wouldn't Treat A Dog (Like You Treated Me), which still fill every dance floor at any decent party today.
