In my opinion, there's hardly a better songwriter than Gene Clark. Using probably standard chords, he conjures up melodies that, at least for me, reach deep down and create a feeling of well-being that, as I said, I rarely experience otherwise. With the Dillard & Clark debut album, the White Light solo debut, and the No Other masterpiece, he's recorded three Desert Island records at once.
