A great little record from Livingston Taylor -- one that's got a few traces of his brother James' famous style, but which is definitely in his own bag as well! The approach here is personal and sometimes poetic -- that fragile approach to singer/songwriter work that emerged in the wake of Tim Hardin, and which is best presented as it is here -- by an artist with an unassuming and straightforward manner. Instrumentation is lightly folksy, with some jazz inflections -- and the production by Jon Landau is nicely bare bones. Titles include "Open Up Your Eyes", "Gentleman", "Easy Prey", "Be That Way", "Get Out Of Bed", and "Mom Dad".
