Even before I started the Keep On Chooglin mixtape series, there was Spoonful. Launched after a furious DJ set by Michael Sheehy and brother Patrick one night in the Stadtkrug Beverungen after an Orange Blossom Special festival day. Music mainly from the 50s and early 60s. Danceable throughout. What was actually planned for 6 CDs developed into a 101 volume monster. Very often four collectors and hunters shared an 80 minute CD with 20 minutes each (and around 6-7 tracks). But there were also solo trips. There are around 8 volumes of Jamaican boss reggae and rock steady, two electric blues from the 50s, one 60s garage sounds, 5 or 6 popcorn specials (that special Belgian way of dancing), two northern soul, ten CDs of Sin City Jukebox (soundtrack of a Bar in Biloxi), a few Nitty Gritty, Mambo Rhythm'n'Blues, Rockabilly (King Tut's Voodoo Hut), 6 CDs with the title The In-Crowd (which the mod appreciated) etc etc. All 101 volumes are 80 minutes long and don't ask me how many tracks there are. All as 320 kbit/sec mp3 and with artist and title. Beautifully designed on a USB stick.
